Lauren Kurtz will present an overview on the latest additions to the CT invasive plants list including Callery pear, Quackgrass, Japanese angelica tree. A history of Beatrix Farrand’s designs and their implementation at the summer residence of Edward and Mary Stillman Harkness, “Eolia” named for the Greek God of the winds. Farrand began her relationship with the Harkness gardens in 1919 and finished her design work in 1929, but returned on a yearly basis to review and improve the gardens until her retirement. The lecture will be followed by a tour of the restored gardens.
