Hot Topics 2024 Webinar: Update on Invasive plants, policy and impact to the growing industry

Lauren Kurtz will present an overview on the latest additions to the CT invasive plants list including Callery pear, Quackgrass, Japanese angelica tree. Extension Department Head Bonnie Burr will discuss the legislative policy involved.

Beatrix Farrand’s gardens designed for Edward S Harkness at Eolia, Harkness Memorial State Park

A history of Beatrix Farrand’s designs and their implementation at the summer residence of Edward and Mary Stillman Harkness, “Eolia” named for the Greek God of the winds. Farrand began her relationship with the Harkness gardens in 1919 and finished her design work in 1929, but returned on a yearly basis to review and improve the gardens until her retirement. The lecture will be followed by a tour of the restored gardens. More
